Sian's Storytelling Sunday - I wish I was there.

On the 1st of May, every year, my old school holds an Old Girls day. This year 40 from our batch of approximately 120 went back to visit, with their broods, they totalled 100+.  I wish I was there.  This is the last year the school as we know it will be there. The school is relocating.

I remember 1st of May from my own time there. We always had a lot of fun.  The Old Girls were always an inspiration.  Wow, Kak K is a chartered accountant. Some times, their sons accompanied them.  We always enjoyed the eye-candy...the excitement when we spot a new, unknown boy.  I can only imagine what went on last Tuesday.  I wish I was there.

My own year group are fortunate to have a vibrant FB group. Everyone who went last Tuesday posted photos. I don't feel too left out but I still wish I was there.

This year, they said goodbye to the last of our teacher, Mr Tan who taught me biology. I wish I was there to extend my own good wishes.

I wasn't there so I resorted to a pile of old photos. I have a precious stack of about 10 that I treasure.  The rest are still back home with my mum.  The rest should ( or could ) be a substantial pile.  I was in Photo Society and we used to take photos of each other, A- LOT! Thankfully, I could purchase school photos at a discount (I think).

Here's one I am sharing. I think we've just taken over from the fifth former as Photo Soc committee. We have the camera and we sure know how to use it LOL, and frequently. A few of us, outside Block A lounge.  I will miss this place.

It's difficult when distance prevents us from attending these sorts of events - thank goodness for social media!

you're lucky to have such happy memories of school.

I agree with Amy, how lovely that we have the means to join in, even from a distance. I bet you were missed by those who did manage to go, maybe you'll get there next year?...

What a shame that you couldn't be there on the last time in the old building but at least you can see the photos on FB

International living is full of these sort of moments isn't it? Glad you could share in the photos and memories on FB but no it isn't the same. Don't think I've got many photos of my school other than the annual ones. Hope you find it is a substantial pile at your Mum's.

A Photo Society - that does sound exciting. I would have loved that. I can completely understand your feelings - my school was rebuilt a few years after I left and I was really sad about it. Isn't it great to have happy school memories? I bet you were much missed at the reunion!

Wowsers, great layout and what a great way to at least feel a bit part of it.

I live opposite where my school used to be - it's a car park now. The pupils rarely have reunions but the Agricultural college I attended are have one to celebrate the fifty years since our year started there - where did all that time go.
Lovely story, thank you.

Lovely story - and sorry I am that you weren't able to attend! Maybe next year - love that you have such find memories - I remember going home to visit my parents to find my old school had been demolished - I started crying on the bus when it wasn't there!

Lucky you to have had opportunities for reunions. We don't really have much of that in France. Awesome LO.
Have a nice Sunday,
Cheers from France

Such a beautiful layout. It is difficult when you move around and miss out on these things. I have missed each of my school reunions as I am never in the right place at the right time LOL Great that you have a FB page to continue sharing your memories on.

Oh what shame you couldn't be there; it's nice to hear about it second hand but is never quite the same. Your layout is just stunning.
